Led by choreographer Jane Castree and lighting designer Jamie Smith, this two day residency explores the movement and lighting ideas from How If I? as a starting point for considering the relationship of light and movement. The residency will generate a collaborative working environment where detailed ideas come together to inspire future working practice.
Double bill: How If I? and It’s a Gender Affair. Devised with Lighting Designer Jamie Smith, How If I? reveals the body and its potentiality through an intricate collaboration of light and movement. It’s a Gender Affair presents a topsy-turvy journey through a fairground world exploring perceptions of gender, created with Filmmaker Charlotte Eatock. The programme also features Betsy and Jim a new work by Falmouth University Dance Graduate Becky Moore.
JCDC receives a bursary from The Dance Scaffold Project. The Dance Scaffold Project aims to enable dance artists in Cornwall, Plymouth and Devon, to work with a professional producer to move their work forward. This bursary will fund our Creative Producer Chloe Hughes for three days to work across a range of upcoming JCDC projects to enable there development. Dance Scaffold is partnership project between Plymouth Dance, Dance in Devon and Hall for Cornwall.
Jane, Hal, Charlotte and Jamie head to Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre to start filming for It’s a Gender Affair. They will send three days filming and on the last day Kevin Clifford will be coming in to capture some images for the work.
JCDC begin the second phase of rehearsals for How If I? Jane, Hal, Roseanna, Hayley and Jamie spend timing devising and rehearing the connection between the movement and lighting design for How If I?
The Plymouth Herald Arts section ran an article to announce Arts Council England’s funding of JCDC and announces their upcoming performance of Perspectives at Falmouth University on the 5th of March 2014.
